Challenges in Beach Wedding Photography

Posted July 26, 2011 by in Articles | No comments yet

Beach weddings are great to have during the summer season. During the winter season, you can still have the beach wedding of your dreams if you go to a tropical island. Why is a beach wedding a popular choice? Beach weddings can be considered a major theme in the wedding planning industry. People love the ambiance of the sea. The serenity of the seashore provides a great backdrop for romantic weddings. Any couple would want a beach wedding because of these reasons.

But any party planner can tell you that it’s challenging to have a beach wedding. One major challenge is getting the best photographs for your beach wedding.

Professional photographers should be ready for these challenges.

Weather Changes

The weather on the beach can be very unpredictable, especially in the tropics. You can have everything set up for a perfect beach pictorial but the weather could act up and damage your plans. A perfect wedding photograph can be obtained when the weather cooperates.

What if the sun is hidden? Coming up with a source of light is the challenge for beach wedding photography, which means the photographer should always be ready.

The wind is also a major consideration. You don’t want the wind blowing on the hair of the people in the photo. Worse, the wind could lift the skirts of the women in the photo. For windy beaches, you can place hedges or wind breakers.

Proper Timing

Usually, weather stations tell you what time low tide will come during the day. During low tide, you can see the seashore and the couple can pose on the beach. But the lowest tide can only last for a few minutes to a few hours. It is also a challenge to look for the perfect spot on the seashore to take photos. Choose a spot where you can see the sun in the viewfinder.

Photography Needs

Make sure your equipment is ready for the beach scene. Lens covers will protect your lenses from the sand. Sand can become your major enemy in a beach wedding photo shoot because it can be abrasive. Waterproof equipment is also needed.
